Psychotherapists and counsellors work with their clients to try to understand their experiences and bring a sense

of meaning and possible change to the client's world. The aim of psychotherapy and counselling is to relieve symptoms,

resolve problems and enable the client to cope better.

There are times when it might feel too difficult to talk to a partner, a member of your family or a friend.

Psychotherapy or counselling is being able to talk to a professional who will listen and offer a non-judgemental,

confidential environment with time to explore the various options which may enable you to resolve your issues.

The distinctive feature of family therapy is its perspective and analytical framework rather than the number of people

present at a therapy session.

Specifically, family therapists are relational therapists:

They are generally more interested in what goes on between individuals rather than within one or more individuals

Therapy/Counselling sessions are conducted in a confidential forum. Sessions last 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours by arrangement .

Some of the problems for which therapy is offered include the following:
- Addictions
- Anger Management
- Anxiety
- Bereavement & Feelings associated with loss
- Coping with Illness
- Depression
- Eating Disorders
- Family Crisis, including separation

- Gender Issues
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Phobias
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Psychosis
- Relationship & Attachment Issues
- Self-Harm
- Sexuality Issues
- Trauma & Abuse Issues

This list is not complete. Therapy is provided in relation to most difficulties and the approach is informed by the context

in which the difficulty arises.

Who is therapy for?
Therapy can be useful for anyone seeking help with significant life problems. If you are unhappy with your current situation

& are looking to find ways to adapt or change, then therapy may be of assistance.
At the WellBeing Centre, we are primarily interested in supporting people in their relationships & family life.

We see individuals, families and couples for a variety of reasons.

What can you expect?
You can expect to be accepted in a non-judgemental manner. Initially, there will be an emphasis on establishing rapport

& trust while exploring the key issues presented.

After this, some time will be devoted to establishing key goals and deciding on the plan of action.

What not to expect?
Therapy is not a quick fix & can offer no magical solutions to life problems.

It will aim to assist you in achieving your own solutions.
The work of the WellBeing Centre concerns itself with encouraging & supporting good relationships

between individuals & within families.
